They struggle because communication breaks down between systems, platforms, teams, and audiences.
My work lives in that space between structure and story — helping organizations build stronger, more connected digital experiences.
I’m a Human-Centered Digital Systems Architect focused on narrative strategy, communication systems, and building stronger connections between organizations and the people they serve.
Over the years, I’ve lived and worked across Alaska, Tokyo, London, Southern California, Pennsylvania, and Kansas City. Those experiences shaped how I think about communication, structure, culture, and the way people connect with brands, organizations, and each other.
My work sits at the intersection of systems, storytelling, strategy, and design — helping organizations create digital ecosystems that make sense both operationally and emotionally.
I value clarity, integrity, thoughtful design, and relationships rooted in trust over transaction.
Most organizations don’t struggle because of one broken platform or disconnected tool.
They struggle because their systems were built at different times, by different people, for different purposes — and no one stopped to make sure they all play nice.
I help organizations step back, identify what’s working, untangle what isn’t, and build systems that work together more intentionally.
Building meaningful, long-term relationships with clients is important to me, and I consider it a privilege.
I especially enjoy working with organizations that not only have a powerful story themselves, but intentionally create space for others to tell their stories as well.
I enjoy partnering with organizations to help them navigate the complexity of modern digital communications. Whether that means doing the work myself or helping train and equip internal teams, my goal is always the same: helping people and organizations move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
The strongest brands, systems, and digital experiences are built around clarity, trust, communication, and real human connection — not noise, trends, or unnecessary complexity.
Instead of treating websites, messaging, branding, content, and operations as isolated tasks, I look at how they influence and reinforce one another over time.
Sometimes the solution is creative.
Sometimes it’s structural.
Most of the time, it’s both.
I do this by helping organizations shape communication systems and narratives that feel clear, compelling, and relevant to the people they serve.
I fell in love with storytelling, creativity, and technology early.
By the time I left Alaska at 18 to study fashion design in Los Angeles, I was already drawn to the intersection of design, systems, communication, and human behavior.
After interning for a Paris-trained, Newport Beach–based couturier and training to become a buyer at Nordstrom, I traded my fashion aspirations for globe-trotting adventure.
Armed with little more than a trunk full of creative problem-solving skills and a desire to see what was possible, I landed in Tokyo, Japan.
There, I pivoted my career path by immersing myself in the training, education, and cross-cultural communications industry. Publishing, print design, curriculum design, and remote team-based project management quickly became part of my ever expanding skill set.
An easy segue into photography, film, and video production followed as invitations to join project teams began arriving. In a serendipitous turn of events — on the heels of a lot of hard work — our team won two awards for a film production.
That experience pulled me deeper into the world of digital storytelling and media production. Along the way I began traveling to even more far-flung places and eventually started getting published as a travel writer.
In 2016, I gathered my menagerie of experiences, talents, and hard-earned skills and began piecing them together. The result was gracestudioDESIGNS — a multi-disciplinary, location-independent production house built at the intersection of systems, storytelling, and design.
Whether you're building something new, untangling something complicated, or trying to bring clarity to systems that no longer feel connected — I’d be glad to talk.
